Welcome to the home of the grittiest working Border Collies!
The Stock Dog Exchange specializes in custom professional training on livestock for everyday work. Our professional working dogs will not only help you work your stock more efficiently, but provide you with a loyal, lifelong companion.
Not all border collies are created equal. There a many people who breed border collies but not all of these dogs will work stock. If you need a professional working dog that will get the job done, make sure they come from working lines. Here at Stock Dog Exchange, all of our dogs are bred from working parents who are proven on cattle. Check out our available dogs and give us a call. We'll find a dog that will work for you!

  • WHAT WE OFFER:

  • free assessment of your dog's herding ability
  • basic obedience lessons
  • custom herding lessons

TIP WHEN BUYING  A STARTED OR FINISHED/TRAINED DOG

Stand still, and do not move.  Give the dog left command (come  by) or the right command (away to me). If the dog executes, the chances are good that the dog has sufficient training.  The trainer should not hesitate to do this for you during his demonstration.

TIP #2  Do not be fooled by a dog that can go some distance and pick up dog broke cattle. On an average you can show a dog (even a 6mo. old pup)where they are three times, and he/she will go and get them from then on.  This is not a started dog.  A started dog needs a mimiumn of 45-60 days of training.

BEWARE of anyone who will not guarantee their dogs!

We will match the price of any started or trained dog in the state of Tennessee.

After years of training Border Collies and working with a lot of the different herding breeds, I have found that the Kelpie as well as the Border Collie make ideal cowdogs with their determination, grit, and willingness to please their owners.
